Serananda aka Anandá-Ji (Stephen Rossmeisl), Performer

Anandá-Ji has a background in sound engineering and has worked in the sound recording industry for over two decades. Originally from Philadelphia, he studied at the University of the Arts and recorded and performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra.

Music has been a part of Anandá’s life since the age of 4, with guitar as his first musical medium, and later learning to play bass guitar and dumbek in college. He has studied under jazz and classical composition, as well as film scoring, and has sung in various orchestras for 8 years.

Drawing from his musical studies, Anandá weaves classical, jazz, world, electronica, and infrasonic (low frequency) melodies, providing a unique style of transcendent music. He synthesizes analog sound blended with today’s digital music and a wide variety of sacred music from around the world. As a low frequency bass player, he uses a microphone through an octaver pedal with the voice transposed down two octaves. Through the combination of an infrasonic, analog synthesizer and infrasonic voice, powerful sound waves of oscillation are created - "Sonic Soundscapes".

Anandá has collaborated with many artists from over the years. As a studio musician, he has played as a guitarist/bassist/composer for various singer-songwriters on the east coast. He has toured with Gypsy Hands, a belly dancing troupe, including a performance at Bonnaroo. He has also performed at Harmony Festival in the children’s magical plaground as the SeraSound Supastar. In 2008, he held a concert with Mark Deutch, providing vibrational tuning to match Deutch’s ‘bassantar,’ a custom upright bass with a sitar built into it.

Anandá frequently performs live at the Sera Phi Center, activating the 10,000 watt vibro-acoustic sound floor he installed. There have been sound journey concerts every week for the past 3 years! He owns a wide range of equipment including pedal boards, instruments, analog synthesizers.
